Standard Time Again
I'm up early automatically,
lost the hour I gained last spring.
By just being on time, early I'll be,
but the sun will rise and a new day bring.
Wonder at wisdom, daylight time we chose,
Another hour of, sun after work was enjoyed;
we gained an extra hour, or did we lose,
morning sleep lost, some folks annoyed?
An analogy, to shorten, rope was cut,
adding tied length to the opposite end.
It was shorter at one end, gaining what?
In a few months, we'll gain what we did lend.
Daddy used to find it inconvenient,
when the cows came to the gate,
to be milked and fed at their usual time,
was it they or we who were late?
Soon we'll adjust to the standard time change,
be it for the better or for the worse.
For me, it helped my hour to arrange,
gave me time to scribble this verse.
