Christmas Memories and Hope
Singing carols in the snow, boldly sledding at ten below,
snow pants, boots and scarves and hats, GI Joe with ra-ta-tats,
trees and lights and candy canes, giggles of fun in party games,
Surprises in stockings, Christmas trees, among cherished memories.
Dinner at Grandma's, traditions sweet, holiday parties, wings on feet,
Looking back on festive scenes, aunt and uncles, tots and teens,
Now, in twenty-twenty, staying apart, to avoid the virus, challenges the heart,
challenges for all of us to find, in the unfamiliar, gestures kind.
Remembering the reason for the day, on Christmas, the Christ child sent our way,
to cause envy, hate, and sorrow cease, to aching hearts bring love and peace,
May the angels' message in the night, still bring the news of love and light.
