Talent Shows

Let's reminisce, recall evenings of bliss,
when we took in the local talent show;
American Idol, ours, or Dance with the stars,
have taken the place of the home talent race,
the rage in the age years ago.

The "Voice" was our neighbor, time off from labor,
and the venue was the village hall;
Cousin soft-shoed good form, brother tap-danced a storm;
the audience, friends and kin, one and all,
joined in applause for each contestant's cause,
stage moved inside in the fall.

Tunes from "The Hit Parade' their appearance made,
and Sousa accompanied the batons deftly twirled;
The accordion made its rhythm and song,
the background or featured number unfurled.
Like Godfrey's "Talent Scouts", skills were brought out,
and the community entertained, evening long.

So both the performers and eager chair warmers,
enjoy the event that is planned;
just to reminisce, and enjoy the sweet bliss,
make community outcome that's grand.
