Plans and Results
Did it go my way? I tend to think not;
or allow my claimed rights to prevail?
Time to sift it out and appraise our lot;
turning another way needn't say fail.
Just when the outcome, awaited is revealed;
circumstances rearrange complexion's hue;
What was indispensable to conditions yield,
and issues yet unknown place in the queue.
And, so, in living in government or home,
wisdom and experience have their way,
stay with our principles or inclined to roam,
varied views mandate a surprising way.
Move on; in our time the venture claims;
we act upon our options or demands.
We work, hoping to complete our aims,
the plan not the outcome in our hands.
