Multi Memories

Do you remember when the fireflies blinked bright,
when June's balmy evenings first felt warm,
and, do you recall the Christmas lights,
when we stomped the snow off from the storm,?

And how, when small, we laughed on summer days,
when "Silent Night" was still my favorite song,
and how the hill was still the 'sliding hill,'
though we ran down it to the creek all summer long.

Do you remember when the creek would thaw?
We couldn't wait for water to warm to swim;
warm rains made puddles for splashing on the lawn,
Baby Jesus, Christmas carols, we greeted Him.

When"Skip to my Lou", played on the grass,
turned to "Fox and Geese" in paths of snow,
and snow angels marked our playing on the lawn;
We begged for sledding at ten degrees below.

For fairs and Ferris wheels when fall was near,
long walks to school so eager to see friends,
anticipating each season of the year,
dear memories to share when childhood ends.

With dreamy eyes, we plan for Christmas toys,
that will bring smiles and, sometimes fights;
look back and see ourselves as girls or boys,
Grandpa's and Grandma's Christmas time delights.
