Anticipating Departure

The morning is different although it's the same;
It's prognosis of the day that has changed.
The weekend with family and friends dropping in,
by social distance has been rearranged.

The numbers that gather are few, far between,
or results may be rued, days to come;
unseen, but its influence, mournful and mean,
restricting for more than just some.

So, frail, shut-in, invalid elders,
deprived of precious touch, being seen,
by their dear ones' warm, social comfort,
kept away by rule of quarantine.

We look forward to being blessed by its leaving,
a happy and trouble free dawn,
done with missed companionship grieving,
when the troublesome virus is gone.
