River Art
The river calm at close of day,
shows us in its propensity
that fishing seen another way
a senior spectator sport can be.
A graceful form had caught our eye,
perched paradigm of agility,
a young boy with rod and fishing fly,
struck by his form and balance were we.
Slender and erect, poised on the dock,
on one foot balanced, the other braced,
on the rigid knee firm as a rock.
while deftly his bait on hook he placed.
We hoped this boy would land his prize;
our awed regard.willed him succeed;
The reward was granted to our eyes ,
appetite for lively arts did feed.
The calming of the river's flow,
a treat to the eyes to end the day,
silhouetted in evening sky's red glow,
stately, graceful river side ballet.
