Resolutions Revisited

I'm stuck on resolutions;
starting over, is it fair?
I've missed a few already,
though willingness was there.

Teaching “old me” new tricks,
frustrating and, yes, slow,
a second try may do better,
but perfection is a "no."

So the year proceeds unhindered,
by the changes I propose,
enthusiasm, smoked and cindered,
stuck with every choice I chose.

If we think we're an exception,
no matter how we try,
just remember, our perception,
may be "pie in the sky."
