Overkill
When cornered or on soapbox, we speak out,
feebly stating futile stand , or in the right,
pleading no more effective than a shout,
numbers or good counsel could boost our might.
Though we may tend to overstate our stand,
or punctuate our opinion with an oath,
our perceived authority get out of hand,
by foolishly expressing it with both.
It can be said we'd scarce the outcome sway,
whether self interest or duty calls,
and, predictably, we will not save the day,
by battling mosquitoes with cannon balls.
