Message for Mother
I noticed, much to my surprise,
sinking balloon, in March, had been a gift,
changed this morning before my eyes,
instead of lying limp, began to lift,
It's Mothers' Day; the helium,
balloon, whose buoyancy near spent,
had sagged since March in tedium,
now, in the sun's rays, knows ascent.
Symbolic, it must surely be;
does helium naturally renew?
It may represent their love for me;
I'm at a loss what else to view.
So, though helium,may lift its counterparts,
and breezes ferry them away,
the sun's warm rays and loving hearts,
let it bob for me on Mothers' Day.
