County Fair Resumed

Saturday, County fair, families again seeing country sights,
music, food stands, like in past years, midway nights.
Did your heifer or woodwork win a ribbon?
Is the grandstand drawing crowds and loud applause.
poultry's plumage preening, bunnies' soft ears and paws,
admiration of small children, no touch, no fibbin'.

Calliope sound of the merry-go-round, sighs and squeals,
as the heights and sights ascend on Ferris wheels,
in the arena barrel race and pole bending,
bring cheers, thrills unending, score defending,
the beauty of equine energy and grace.
Is it only once a year, result of effort dear?
adulation, lesson earned through attempting faced.

Sunday, county fair, families, friends go home,
taking their entertainment sights, events enjoyed.
Some taking prizes their efforts have gained,
both their enjoyment and application employed.
How appreciated the things we have missed
through isolation, restrictions', delay,
when, as in past, they again take place,
we'll value them more a later day.
