Contradiction and a Way

Acknowledging the human state,
our contradictory tendencies,
leaning toward jealousy and hate,
claiming love is ours, and we are free.

To be aware and not deny,
for, only when we say what's so,
can we beneath the light of sky,
look at the wrong and let it go.

The wrong in others mirrors mine;
may I in the reflection observed,
through the confusion, let it shine,
light that fosters joy and kindness served.

If change and free ourselves we could,
beyond the shadows there is a way.
Knowing only God, Who's good,
each morning gives us a new day.
